Actually, February went out like the Big Bad Wolf caught in the spin cycle, a howling, wet mess. And March is indecisive, gloriously spring one day, snowing and cold the next. Hopefully it makes its mind up soon.
Work misery continues apace, though it should get better with the delivery of hopefully four major projects, three of which have been on my plate for months, in the next week or so. As always, less said, the better.
Worked Saturday the 28th, and then went out for a pub crawl in Maizuru and Tenjin with coworkers. There was a deal going on that for 1800 yen, you could pick any 3 bars on a list (9 in total), present your ticket and get a drink and a snack. The drinks were largely forgettable, but the food was good. We started at the Gastro Pub Ales, where I had red wine and really good pate. Will definitely be going back to try the schnitzel and wild boar stew. Next up was Smilish, which had passable flavored plum wine, but divine beef tataki and chocolate lava cake. Last up was Ace of Spades, where most of the folks had whisky with their french toast, but I convinced the bartender to give me coffee with Baileys. Heaven in a cup!
Home around 2 … and up at 6:30 to head to Tokyo for the day. Met up with Nancy and went to J-World Tokyo to check out the KuroBasu addition and have lunch. Did some shopping and then headed to Hammamatsucho for the Omaera no Tame ni evening event, which is part seiyuu (voice actor) talk show, part silly drag outfits and all amusing. After, finally met up with Kuragenouta (and a friend of hers), a fellow Rodeo Girl who I’d started chatting with online last year, for coffee and a snack before I headed back to Narita.
Last Saturday, met up with my friends Natsumi and Mari for tea and coffee at Terrassa in Tenjin and then went out for many grilled things on sticks with Lexi, Lexi’s mom and Adeline that evening. Sunday was glorious, so I walked to Brooklyn Parlor for a burger, went for karaoke, then over to Adeline’s for a girls’ dinner with Lexi, Mai, Melanie and Bettina. Good company and good food.
And now it’s almost the weekend again, thankfully. Saturday is my monthly treat myself day — nails in the morning, hair in the afternoon. Then Lexi and I will head out to see Granrodeo’s bass player play at a local bar. Sunday is lunch with Jeppiku and the actual Granrodeo show.
Next week holds a group outing for Saint Patricks Day, working late on Wednesday, and then fleeing to Tokyo for two Granrodeo shows at the Saitama Super Arena (where hopefully I will catch up with Kuragenouta, Rio and others).
